Wiltshire Council congratulate Salisbury students

Wiltshire Council has praised students for their hard work and dedication as they collect their A-level results across the county today (10th August 2021).

Cllr Laura Mayes, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: "I wish all our young people the very best as they pick up these important results today. Our students have had to deal with unprecedented circumstances while studying for their A-levels and I would like to praise them for their determination and perseverance in overcoming lockdowns and adapting to remote learning.

"This year students will be receiving teacher-assessed grades. I would like to thank all our dedicated teachers and school staff who have had to undertake additional training and have worked so hard to carry out these assessments as fairly and consistently as possible.

"I know for some students this will be a more difficult day if results are not as expected. Those who haven't got the anticipated grades they hoped for should remember there are always other opportunities and plenty of support and guidance available to help students in deciding what route to take next."

Wiltshire Council advises students that didn't receive the grades they anticipated to initially speak to their school or college who can offer help and advice about options available to them including the appeals process.

Alternatively, students can contact Young Work Wiltshire on Thursday 12 August, between 10am to 4pm by calling 01225 716890.

Young Work Wiltshire is a Wiltshire Council service that offers advice in planning the next steps in education, training and apprenticeships

The National Careers Service advice lines will also be open between 9 August - 27 August on 0800 100 900.

For students hoping to go on to university, the UCAS helpline is open Monday to Friday from 08.30am to 6pm on 0371 468 0 468 or online at UCAS undergraduate results clearing.
