Wiltshire Council has awarded a contract worth £3m per year to Spurgeons to provide new family hubs in communities throughout the county.
The new model, which will begin in April 2024, will give greater local community support and guidance for families and young people aged 0 to 19, extending to 25 for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
The plan follows the government’s drive for family hubs and includes hubs in community buildings throughout the county, plus main hubs in Trowbridge, Chippenham and Salisbury. There will also be a digital platform that can be accessed on phones, tablets or computers, offering information, support, and courses.
Each hub will have its own team of navigators. They will have a visible presence in the community to ensure they are on hand to offer help to families that need it and to signpost and create links to other agencies, such as local schools and early years providers.
Cllr Laura Mayes, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “These new hubs will streamline access to support for families, aligning with our Business Plan missions to empower people to lead enriched lives and give children the best start in life.
“As well as face to face support from trained, specialist navigators, families will be able to access a digital platform that will be able to offer advice and support at any time of the day or night.
“We’re looking forward to these hubs opening from April in communities throughout Wiltshire to make a positive difference to the lives of Wiltshire’s families, children and young people.”
