The Tassimo coffee pod and pet food recycling schemes for Wiltshire Air Ambulance will end on the 1st of December and the 10th of November.
The sponsors of these schemes have pulled out of TerraCycle recycling, the company through which Wiltshire Air Ambulance do all their recycling. The loss of the two schemes means that the fundraisers will lose out on £1,500 a month for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
“Unfortunately, we are having to let our supporters know that the pets and Tassimo recycling schemes are coming to an end. For pets, the last chance to drop your recycling with us is on the 10th November 2021, and for Tassimo pods, the last drop is 1st December 2021.
“This is a massive shame and a huge loss to Recycle for Wiltshire Air Ambulance as we currently fill around seven creates of 90,000 Tassimo pods a week at our hub sites in Salisbury & Swindon. This makes up a huge proportion of our fundraising,” said Sam Peters, one of the founders of Recycle for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Now, the fundraisers are asking their supports to keep recycling using their other schemes.
“We are asking our recyclers to help us re-coop that money by getting involved in our other recycling schemes which include bread bags, confectionery and crisp packets to name a few".
This news comes as Wiltshire Air Ambulance announce that their costs have risen to £4 million a year as the charity emerges from the clinical and financial challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
