Two COVID positive patients have died at Salisbury District Hospital

Salisbury District Hospital has confirmed the death of two patients who tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday 23rd October and Sunday 24th October.

A spokesperson from the hospital said: "Sadly, we can confirm that a further two patients who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital and had tested positive for COVID-19 have sadly died.

"One woman in her nineties died on Saturday 23rd October. Another woman in her eighties died on Sunday 24th October. Both patients had underlying health conditions. Our thoughts and condolences are with the patients’ family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time.

227 patients in total have now passed away within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test.

There are currently have 19 in-patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 being cared for at the hospital.

"We would ask the public to remain cautious and to take appropriate precautions to avoid transmission, such as mask wearing in crowded places and good hand hygiene. In addition, people should take up the invitation for a COVID-19 vaccine when offered. It is never too late to get a first vaccine".
