Thruxton will host top-class racing when rounds 10, 11 and 12 of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) take place at the Hampshire circuit near Andover this weekend (3/4 June).
Two days of thrilling wheel-to-wheel action begins on Saturday when the UK’s biggest car series heads south with plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy throughout the weekend including the pitlane walkabout and autograph session on Sunday morning, a dedicated kids’ zone with bouncy castles, children rides and mini karts plus a bustling trade village.
NAPA Racing UK’s Ash Sutton leads the drivers’ standings as they arrive at the UK’s fastest race circuit after he sealed two victories in the previous round at Snetterton.
Reigning BTCC champion Tom Ingram is just seven points behind him in the second following his first victory of the season in round nine at the Norfolk track. The Bristol Street Motors with EXCELR8 driver pushed through from seventh on the starting grid to take the spoils in the last race and will be aiming to keep the pressure on his rival.
Championship stalwart Colin Turkington heads to Thruxton in third position with the Northern Irishman claiming a couple of podiums at Snetterton in his Team BMW car as he seeks a record fifth title.
Dan Cammish (NAPA Racing UK) and Jake Hill are in fourth and fifth place respectively, both on 98 points with Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport driver Hill grabbing a couple of second-place finishes in the previous rounds.
King of Thruxton, Josh Cook heads to the meeting in ninth position in the standings. Local ace Cook from nearby Bristol claimed his title when he became the most successful BTCC driver on the fast and flowing circuit last year. On the series’ first visit to the track in 2022 he took two wins, sealing his crown before he added another victory to his tally when they returned later in the season so he will certainly be one to watch.
As well as the racing from the BTCC, there will be several support series battling it out across the two days with the ROKiT F4 British Championship, the Vertu Motors MINI CHALLENGE Trophy, Porsche Carrera Cup
Great Britain and both the Dunlop Mini Se7en Challenge with Mini Spares and Dunlop Mini Miglia Challenge with Mini Spares are also on the race card.
There will be plenty to do off-track throughout the weekend too as the meeting offers a family-friendly environment with loads of attractions for all ages. There is also the trade village offering a range of shopping and live music providing a soundtrack to the weekend.
Fans can get up close to the racing stars on Sunday morning when a pitlane walkabout takes place at 10 am with a chance to meet the drivers and get autographs and photographs.
Tickets are available to buy online. Prices are £16 for a Saturday adult ticket and £36 for Sunday. Children aged between 13 and 15 years old will need a teen ticket for this meeting starting from £7 for Saturday whilst family tickets (two adults and two teens) can be purchased for £85 for Sunday.
