After a two year break due to COVID, the annual sponsored walk in aid of Salisbury District Hospital’s charity, the Stars Appeal, returns to Wilton House on Sunday 3rd July.
The Stars Appeal, Salisbury Hospital’s Charity, is inviting people to take part in Walk for Wards to support their local hospital.
Walk for Wards is one of the region’s biggest fundraising events, attracting up to 2,000 people. Since it began in 2007 it has raised over £1million.
The walk was officially launched at Wilton House by Stars Appeal President Lord Pembroke, Principal Sponsor Salisbury Reds, and walk marshals Wilton Rotary Club.
The walk, which is free to enter, offers 3k, 5k and 10k routes around the beautiful Wilton Estate and includes lunch and admission to the grounds of Wilton House.
Walkers must sign up in advance and pledge to raise at least £20 sponsorship which they can choose to benefit the ward or department of their choice at Salisbury District Hospital.
All participants wear special signs to show which ward they are supporting or to dedicate their efforts to a loved one. Money raised by the walk will help the Stars Appeal towards the £1million it aims to raise this year to fund additional equipment, care and facilities which help thousands of patients, families and the NHS staff who care for them.
Lord Pembroke, President of the Stars Appeal, who is hosting the walk said, “I’m so excited to have Walk for Wards back at Wilton House. It’s been a very long wait but it means so much to me and everyone at the hospital. Your support will make a huge difference to the Stars Appeal so please come and join me on Sunday 3 rd July for Walk for Wards.”
To take part in Walk for Wards sign up online here or telephone 01722 429005 for an entry form. Entry is free but all participants must register in advance.
