Successful year achieved for the team at Salisbury CCTV

The team at Salisbury CCTV are working harder than ever to monitor the CCTV system to help keep residents and visitors in the city of Salisbury safe.

The CCTV control room has been manned 4.8% more in 2022 than in 2021, with working and volunteering hours last year at its highest level since Salisbury City Council took over the system in 2017.

Consequently, the last year saw the team increase their time in the control room in 9 out of the 12 months, with an average of 19 individuals monitoring the systems.

Working in partnership with Salisbury BID, Salisbury CCTV is an incredibly useful tool, providing vital evidence and intelligence to partners, including the Police, ShopWatch, PubWatch and City Centre Security Officers to help ensure convictions. In 2022 there were 370 viewing requests, 37 more than in 2021.

One of the Leaders of the City Council, Cllr Victoria Charleston, said, “The commitment shown by the team at Salisbury CCTV has been fantastic, and I’d like to thank everyone who has manned the system over the years and contributed to Salisbury’s security and public safety.”

Salisbury BID Director and Old George Mall Manager Arnold Catterall said, “Salisbury’s CCTV is a vital component in the city’s effort to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour, and it is very positive to hear that the operating hours have increased in 2022. CCTV compliments the other business crime reduction initiatives such as City radio, the BID Ranger and general intelligence sharing platforms that Salisbury BID manage and support”
