Local community group Sounds Better CIC has announced a one-off Love Your Lungs event on April 30th in Wilton Community Centre from 2:30-4:30 pm.
After the success of Lung Friendly Salisbury Week, an online event held during the pandemic, Sounds Better has decided to hold an in-person event to help attendees learn more about managing breathlessness through singing.
The event will feature information about living with lung conditions, with signposts to local and national support for breathlessness and lung conditions.
In addition, there will be a Singing for Lung Health session where participants can discover the benefits of singing for managing breathlessness and lung conditions.
The Salisbury Breathless Singers group, which meets weekly in Wilton, will also attend.
Liv McLennan, Director of Sounds Better CIC, says: “We’re passionate about using music to improve wellbeing generally. We’ve wanted to put on an in-person event for a while but have held off because of the risk of COVID, and opted to hold our Lung Friendly Salisbury Week online because of this.
"We’re really looking forward to this event and hope to help those living with breathlessness and lung conditions to learn ways of managing their breathing -
whilst enjoying themselves!”
Those wishing to attend don't need to book, they can arrive for the start of the session at 2:30 pm at Wilton Community Centre.
Sounds Better CIC also runs Salisbury Breathless Singers on Tuesdays in Wilton and online via Zoom, as well as 6-week introductory courses in partnership with Salisbury’s Parish Nurse at various venues around Salisbury and simultaneously online via Zoom.
