Salisbury Radio is pleased to announce the full list of schools taking part in Song for Christmas 2024.
After a huge response from local primary schools, Song for Christmas has 23 primary, junior and infant schools taking part in this year's edition of the popular festive competition.
Although there is a prize, Song for Christmas is a fun event giving local children the chance to sing and for a wider audience to hear the songs that they perform.
Song for Christmas will also raise money for charity. After being played on the radio, each song will be available to download for just £1, with the proceeds being donated to Salisbury Foodbank.

Woodlands Primary School won last year's competition with its rendition of 'Walking in the Air'. The performance blew our judges away, narrowly pipping Alderbury & West Grimstead Primary School into second place. After winning the competition in 2023, Woodlands head Matthew Kitley said, “Well, this is fantastic news; it means the world to the children. They have worked so hard. All of our year five and year six form our school choir.
In addition to the songs being played on the radio, 13 schools are participating in this year's Song for Christmas Carol Concerts. Thanks to the Magna Learning Partnership's support, these are once again being held at Sarum Academy. Following on from the success of last year, the two concerts bring together schools, allowing them to perform their own song and to sing as a mass choir in front of their family and friends - as well as this year, the Mayor of Salisbury, Cllr Sven Hocking and Salisbury's MP, John Glen.
The concerts are free to take part in, with parents able to 'pay what they want' for a ticket, with proceeds from tickets being donated to Salisbury Foodbank.
Andy Munns from Salisbury Radio said, "Song for Christmas really brings the spirit of Christmas to the radio. It's going to be amazing having so many local schools on this year. It's more than we have ever had before. It's also fantastic to welcome some new schools who have never taken part before - as well as those who are returning once again.
"We start the recording process in less than two weeks time and I am excited to hear what each school has been working on."
