Sleep somewhere unusual for charity this autumn

Alabaré, a Wiltshire-based charity that supports those who are vulnerable, marginalised and homeless, is gearing up for its third Big Sleep at Home on Friday 8th October.

The fundraiser invites people who wish to take a stand against homelessness to sleep somewhere unusual for the night. Whether that’s a den in your lounge, setting up camp in the bath, getting cosy in a shed, or truly braving the elements under the stars, take on the challenge to help raise vital funds for those who have faced the crisis of losing their home.

The last two events, held under lockdown in October 2020 and March this year, proved so popular with both adults and children that the charity is busy getting ready for next month’s repeat event, this time marking World Homeless Day.

The March event raised an incredible £55,000, and this year will see the return of evening entertainment including stories, a quiz, a presentation for younger participants, and den building activities.

The whole evening will raise funds to help Alabaré provide support to those facing incredible difficulties during the pandemic and beyond. During the evening Big Sleepers will also hear from those who have benefited from the support that Alabaré and their supporters make possible.

The Big Sleep at Salisbury Cathedral is set to return sometime next year according to the charity.

There is still time to sign up to take part in the Big Sleep at Home. For more information and to get involved click here.
