Sarum Lights and beyond: Media organisations join forces to showcase the city

Local videographer Carlton Brunton and Salisbury’s local radio station have teamed up to increase the city’s visibility to the community, businesses, and residents.

Owner of Brunton Media, Carlton Brunton, has a great love for the city we call home and has joined forces with Love Salisbury to showcase the many reasons why people should visit the city throughout the year.

The first collaboration of the new partnership will see Love Salisbury and Brunton Media use sound and video to reveal the wonders of the Sarum Lights: Heaven and Earth exhibition opening at Salisbury Cathedral this week.

The light and music show celebrates the beauty of the universe, and is inspired by a passage in Genesis when God invites Abraham to look up at the stars and reflect on his legacy:

“He brought him outside and said, ‘Look towards heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them.’ Then he said to him, ‘So shall your descendants be.” Genesis 15.5

Using sound and music to express the awe that Abraham must have felt looking up into the night sky, the display hopes to capture the viewer’s imagination to remind us what an amazing world we live in.

Speaking about the new partnership Carlton said, “Personally, I have always thought it was extremely important to showcase what our city has to offer, and why I love Salisbury. Hopefully this partnership will show why our city is so special”.

Managing Director for Love Salisbury, David Harber added, “It is great to work with a local company who is as passionate about the city as we are. This is a great opportunity for us to utilise Carlton’s fantastic video skills to provide yet another way to share information that people who live, work and play in the city can really use.

“Together we’ll be creating audio, printed and video content to promote the city, its people, businesses and non-profit groups and organisations. Watch this space”.

Launched in 2018, Brunton Media finds innovative ways to use digital media to promote and support Salisbury’s local businesses. In the past, this has included the creation of an annual promotional video showcasing Salisbury’s unique charm, as well as a not-for-profit video series showcasing independent businesses voted for by the community.
