SALISBURY'S ROADS: A perfect partnership with over 160 years' experience

As Salisbury’s roads are getting busier than ever before, Salisbury Radio is excited to announce the ‘perfect partnership’ with family-run Hendy Group to provide a reliable and constant watch on the city’s roads.

Hendy is one of the UK’s longest serving motor dealers and starting soon, they will help provide ‘Eyewitness Travel’ every hour through the day on the area’s only local radio station.

The motor group which helps people in Salisbury find their perfect vehicle with brands like Dacia, Hyundai, KIA, Nissan, Renault, SKODA and Toyota, will soon be enabling a radio listeners to provide their own ‘real-time’ traffic reports on Salisbury Radio.

Will Hendy from Hendy Group says, “We’re really excited to be working with Salisbury Radio, giving us the chance to provide the most up-to-date and accurate travel news on radio.

“Working with Salisbury Radio also gives us multiple ways to promote our new and pre-owned vehicles as well as our aftersales services to help keep people moving.”

Hendy Group started life in 1859.  It was just as engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel opened his famous bridge across the River Tamar between Devon and Cornwall that Frederick Hendy was opening the first Hendy shop, a bicycle store in Whitchurch, Hampshire.

Hendy - over the years

“I’m excited to announce this relationship”, says Salisbury Radio managing director David Harber. “Hendy is a motor company with a truly fascinating and historic story.

“For over 160 years Hendy have been leading the way with peoples’ transportation needs.

“From bicycles to the horseless carriage… even assisting with the building of the iconic Spitfire, today - together with a little help from our listeners - they are leading the way in bringing an almost instantaneous, fully digital solution to give drivers the best travel news service in south Wiltshire and west Hampshire - bar none.”

Assuming listeners are hands free and safe to do so, they will be able to voice-message the radio station and update listeners with reports on the inevitable traffic jams the A36, Countess Road and St Mark’s Roundabout.

The number listeners should use to provide their travel updates for both SMS (text) and WhatsApp (voice or text) is 07741 444 826.

Will Hendy adds, “We are proud to represent 21 automotive brands across the south of England and Salisbury has always had a special place in our hearts.

“As we continue to grow as a group, we are proud to remain a close-knit family business.  After 161 years, our core values of honesty, quality, care and customer service remain at the heart of everything we do”.
