Salisbury's make longest trip of the season to face Truro City

Salisbury FC make their longest away trip of the season this weekend as they prepare for their 370-mile round trip to play Truro City.

It seems like a long time ago since these two clubs met early in the season in August when they played out a draw at the Ray Mac. The 'Tinners' took the lead in the first minute through Ryan Law, and Josh Hedges levelled from the spot midway through the second half to share the spoils.

Since the early stages of the season, the clubs have settled into positions at opposite ends of the table. Truro are currently in second place, four points behind leaders Worthing, having played a game more.

Salisbury are still battling to stay in the league. They are currently 19th with a five-point buffer between themselves and St Albans, who occupy the final relegation spot going into this weekend's fixtures.

Brian Dutton has described the final seven matches as cup finals as his side looks to maintain their status as a Vanarama National League South side.

The Whites come into the game with four points from their last two games—a credible draw away at Torquay United and then a boost of a win at home against Hampton and Richmond on Saturday at the Ray Mac. Goals from Callum Watts and Noah Coppin were enough to secure all three points despite a nervy finish to the game.

Brian Dutton said he was pleased for the players as they found a way to win the game:

Truro City come into the game still pushing for that one automatic promotion place as they chase Worthing for that title. They will also want to finish at least in the top three places to ensure passage straight through to the playoff semi-finals.

Their title credentials took a knock last Saturday when they were beaten by Enfield Town. At the end of the 90 minutes, Enfield scored two injury-time goals to turn the game on its head.

Thanks to a brace from Tyler Harvey, the Tinners were leading by two goals to nil at halftime. However, they allowed Enfield back into the game, with goals in the 50th minute (Harry Sidwell) and then Oliver Knight scoring a brace in the 5th and 7th minutes of added time at the end of the game.

It was Truro's first defeat in ten games, and the side from Cornwall has scored more points than anyone over the last ten games, scoring 23 from a possible 30.
