The teams at community project mySalisbury and local radio station Salisbury Radio are poised with pen and paper to get ready for the biggest pub quiz the city has ever seen.
The organisations are combining to host 'Salisbury's Biggest Pub Quiz... Ever'. The effort is to drive footfall into our hospitality venues, show off each venue's customer brain power an raise money for the Salisbury Hospice Charity.
The quiz will be 'broadcast' into venues around the city on Salisbury Radio and a there's a £250 cash prize awarded to the overall winners.
The pub hosting the winning team will also receive a trophy to keep for the year, as well as having the kudos of being the best quizzing pub in the area.
The quiz allows teams of up to 6 with each player paying £3 to take part with every penny of that being donated to Salisbury Hospice Charity.
The quiz follows successful lockdown quizzes hosted by mySalisbury founder Andy Munns and his wife Hannah. Andy told Salisbury Radio, ‘It was great fun hosting the online quizzes from our kitchen. We only really expected our friends and family to play but the first quiz had over 800 viewers and we had lots of fun doing it, so ended up hosting ten.
"We raised money for some great local charities including Salisbury Hospice Charity and in total, we raised over £1,500 from the quizzes. We joked that we would like to do a real pub quiz and make it really big, so this event feels like a natural evolution of that.’
Venues are invited to sign up for FREE now. They will be supplied with posters and social media material to help promote the event to make it a success for both the pubs or bars and the charity. Salisbury Radio will provide additional promotional activities for each venue that signs up before the end of August.
The quiz will take place on Sunday 3rd October 2021. Pubs and other venues can sign up to be one of the quiz hosts by following this link:

The quiz will be raising vital funds to help support Salisbury Hospice and the service they provide. mySalisbury and Love Salisbury have both signed up as one of the 40 4 40 Club and pledged to raise £1000 this year to help celebrate the Hospice’s 40th Birthday. This is one of our events to help us in achieving this £1000 target.
Louise Compton, Corporate Fundraiser at Salisbury Hospice Charity, said, "We are very excited to be the chosen charity for Salisbury’s Biggest Pub Quiz...EVER!
"It's a wonderful opportunity to work with Andy from mySalisbury and the team at Salisbury Radio, bringing our community together at venues across the city for this fabulous quiz whilst at the same time helping us raise awareness of our hospice services."
Salisbury Radio was keen to support Andy’s idea for the quiz and proposed to broadcast the quiz on the radio station, which is soon to launch on DAB and help make the quiz as big as possible.
David Harber, Managing Director at Salisbury Radio, said, "As the former host of the Spire FM Pub Team Challenge, I am particularly excited to be part of this evolved concept which not only benefits an exceptional local charity but also our local pubs that have had such a hard time recently."
He continued: "At Salisbury Radio we like to 'think big' and the mySalisbury quiz concept is very bold, beautifully designed and truly beneficial."
Players will be able to sign up to play the quiz soon once the list of venues has been finalised.
