Salisbury’s busy fixture schedule continues on Saturday, with Chelmsford City travelling to the Ray Mac for the second league meeting between the two sides this season.
When the two sides met earlier in the season, there was late drama as Chelmsford snatched a late goal to take all three points when Paul Appiah scrambled the ball home following a chaotic melee in the goalmouth.
Chelmsford currently sit comfortably in mid-table on 42 points, neither worried about relegation and a little too far adrift of the play off places as the season heads in to it’s latter stages.
Their recent form sees them averaging a point a game over their last six matches. With one win, three draws and two defeats. They have lost to both Bath City and Eastbourne Borough earlier in that run, but are unbeaten in their last two.
Last Saturday, they won 4-3 away at Farnborough, with Kane Crichlow scoring a hat trick and an own goal enough to seal all three points.
In midweek in contrast to the high scoring game the proceeded it, they played out a goalless draw at home to Hemel Hempstead Town.
Clarets’ manager, Robbie Simpson, was frustrated that his side didn’t pick up all three points, but he was proud of his players’ effort.
Salisbury come into the game after a win away at playoff-chasing Weston-super-Mare where goals from Aiden Elliott-Wheeler and Callum Watts were enough, combined with some superb defending and goalkeeping to give Brian Dutton his first win in five games.
The Whites are currently in decent form, with one defeat in their last six games. With three draws and two wins, they have picked up nine points in that period.
The gap below Salisbury through has narrowed to just six points between them and relegation spots, with Enfield Town chasing down the pack, with form over the last six games which would put them in the top five in the league.
