Salisbury hospital under intense pressure

Salisbury District Hospital has announced they are currently "under intense pressure" and are at full capacity.

At present, the hospital has a significant number of patients waiting to be seen in A&E and to be discharged.

A spokesperson from the Hospital said, "We ask for your support as we work to alleviate the pressure and improve the flow of patients through the hospital."

The hospital advises that if you have a family member waiting to be discharged, you respond quickly to calls about their ongoing care.

Patients are asked to avoid attending A&E unless they have a life-threatening illness or severe injury so that the hospital can prioritise the most urgent and critical patients.

Those with minor illnesses or injuries can visit the Salisbury Walk-In Centre, NHS 111 or a local pharmacy.

A spokesperson added, "If you do attend A&E with a non-urgent condition you may need to wait to be seen. The hospital remains open. Please attend all appointments as normal unless directly contacted."
