A spokesperson said, "Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital and had tested positive for COVID-19 died on Thursday 21st October. The patient was in her 80s and had underlying health conditions.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient’s family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time".

"We would ask the public to remain cautious and to take appropriate precautions to avoid transmission, such as mask wearing in crowded places and good hand hygiene.
