Salisbury FC go hunting for their first victory of the year this Saturday, facing off against Plymouth Parkway at The Raymond McEnhill Stadium in an attempt to prevent five consecutive losses.
The Whites have not won a Southern Premier South match since Boxing Day, with manager Brian Dutton demanding his side do more defensively after their mid-week 3-1 loss against Gosport Borough.
The Salisbury boss said: “Unfortunately, we’re a bit of a soft touch at the moment, and we’re struggling to get the goals in as well. If you don’t rectify what needs to be rectified, nothing changes. It’s the definition of insanity really.”
Both sides had midweek action ahead of Saturday’s game, with Salisbury playing the majority of the game with 10 men after Sam Roberts was sent off for the denial of a goalscoring opportunity.
The defender will be eligible to play against Plymouth as red card offences do not come into effect until seven days after the sending off - but Roberts will be suspended for three games from February 7th.
Plymouth on the other hand come into the game unbeaten in two, with The Parkway stunning Poole Town 4-0 last weekend in an upset victory, and holding Beaconsfield Town to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.
Eyes will be on Salisbury’s three deadline day loanee signings - Tobi Ogundega, Tommy McDermott and James Plant - who all made debuts on the same day that they signed in the game against Gosport.
McDermott and Plant both arrive from Port Vale, and have both featured for the first team in EFL Trophy action this season - McDermott has also made two League One starts, and Plant won the LoveSalisbury Man of the Match award on Tuesday.
The Parkway look for a big result to lift them up the table, as they sit one position above relegation in 18th place; but they have at least four games in hand over every team below them.
