Salisbury beat top of the table Boreham Wood

Brian Dutton's side bounced back from the disappointment and frustration of Saturday's defeat at Hampton and Richmond with a superb win against unbeaten Boreham Wood.

Salisbury trailed at halftime thanks to an Erico Sousa penalty after 40 minutes. Still, Salisbury came out of the blocks quickly in the second half, equalising in the first minute through Craig Fasanmade before Ronan Silva scored the winner on 71 minutes.

Boreham Wood arrived at the Ray Mac unbeaten and sitting top of the league with three wins and one draw from their first four games. They boast a large squad of talented players and made five changes to freshen things up with only 48 hours between games.

Salisbury made three changes: Ryan Gosney returned in goal, George Franklin started in place of Luke Wilkinson, and a first start for loanee Brandon Liggett.

The game took a little while to get started, with both teams playing neat and tidy football but not really creating much in attack. Sagaf snatched at an effort in the first ten minutes and Craig Fasanmade saw an effort drift wide as the half drew on.

The opening goal from the spot. First, Jombati had a pull at Ndlovu's shirt as he got the wrong side and pushed into the box, and then Gosney's attempt to reach the ball at Ndlovu's feet ended with the Boreham Wood striker going down - referee Samuel Read pointed at the spot.

Erico Sousa stepped up and smashed the ball high and to the left as Gosney went the other way go give Wood the lead in the 40th minute.

Jordan Ragguette looked to cause problems in the final minute of the half, but as he broke into the box, his shot went across the face of the goal and behind for a goal kick.

A goal behind at the break, Brian Dutton made one change for the second half with Ronan Silva coming on for Liggett, and Salisbury came out of the blocks fast.

Josh Hedges drove towards the edge of the box and slipped a good pass into the path of Craig Fasanmade, who finished well past Ashmore in the Boreham Wood goal in the 47th minute.

Salisbury's tails were up, and Ragguette came close to putting Salisbury in front just a couple of minutes later when he volleyed just wide on 50 minutes.

The home side had a penalty shout as the game approached the hour mark; the ball clearly struck a Boreham Wood player's hand, but referee Read waved away the appeals.

Salisbury took the lead after 71 minutes when Rafa Ramos battled for the ball and squeezed it through for Ronan Silva, who slipped the ball low past Ashmore in front of the home fans, grabbing his first goal of the season.

Boreham Wood looked for a way back into the game and almost grabbed an equaliser deep in added time at the end of the game. Ryan Gosney produced a fine save to deny Sousa his second of the game and earn Salisbury all three points.

Up next for Salisbury is a trip to Tonbridge Angels. The supporters club are running an away coach see their website or social media for more information - https://sfc-fans.co.uk/ If you can't make the game, there will be full commentary on Salisbury Radio.
