A goal in each half gave Brian Dutton's side victory over Tonbridge Angels at the Ray Mac on Saturday afternoon (29th March).

Dan Fitchett scored his 100th goal in the white shirt (Salisbury City & Salisbury FC) with Ronan Silva adding a second late in the game to put the result beyond doubt.

Salisbury were the quicker of the two sides out of the blocks. In the 9th minute, the ball fell to Dan Fitchett just inside the visitors’ penalty area. The stand-in captain swivelled and found the bottom corner to score his 100th goal for the current and former club.

The goal gave the Whites some momentum, as the home side looked more likely to score the next goal. Ronan Silva saw two of his efforts from outside the box stopped by Rowley in the Angels' net.

Brian Dutton's side headed into the changing rooms, the more satisfied of the two teams. Their lead remained unchallenged by the visitors for the rest of the first half.

The Angels came close to levelling the score when Fielding’s header from a wide cross rattled the crossbar, and moments later, Nelson failed to direct his free header from six yards out on target.

Despite the Kent teams’ majority share of possession, the Whites doubled their advantage.

Callum Watts latched onto a loose ball in the middle and clipped it over the Tonbridge backline for Ronan Silva. The latter took the ball in his stride and slotted it past Rowley to secure three crucial points for Salisbury in their survival bid.

Next Saturday, Salisbury travel to promotion-chasing Boreham Wood as their fight to stay in the Vanarama National League continues.
