Salisbury City Council is on the hunt for a new councillor, following the resignation of Eleanor Wills last week.
The former City Councillor for West Harnham resigned citing personal reasons and left the vacancy in the ward along with leaving her role as the leader of the Conservative group.
Salisbury City Council has released a statement, outlining the process that will now be followed, "Following the resignation of Eleanor Wills, a vacancy has arisen in the Office of Councillor for the Salisbury (Salisbury Harnham West Ward) of the City Council.
"An election to fill the vacancy will be held if ten electors from the Parish of Salisbury (Salisbury Harnham West Ward) electoral area write to the Returning Officer at Wiltshire Council by 15 September 2023 asking for an election to be held.
"Otherwise, the vacancy will be filled by co-option. If an election is called, it will take place no later than 17 November 2023.
"A Notice of Vacancy has been displayed on the City Council’s website here https://salisburycitycouncil.gov.uk/our-council/your-councillors/notice-of-vacancy/ and the Wiltshire Council website.
"The Election Request Form can also be found on the Salisbury City Council website or collected from the Salisbury Information Centre."
