Primark is set to open the doors of its new store in Salisbury in September and is kicking off the recruitment of store colleagues from today as it gets ready for the big day.
The 29,700 sq ft store can be found in the Old George Mall in the city centre, in the former BHS unit.
Set across two floors, customers will be able to shop the bestselling Primark products they know and love across clothing, kidswear, beauty, lifestyle and home.
The retailer will be recruiting 100 new team members for roles including retail assistants, stockroom colleagues, and visual merchandisers, with start dates as early as August to help get the store ready.
Pay rates for all roles start from £11.00 per hour, following an increase introduced for 26,000 retail assistants in April.
This represents a 12% average increase on hourly pay rates compared to 2022, as Primark continues to invest in the people who are vital to its success.
In addition, all colleagues enjoy a year-round 15% discount on Primark products and benefits such as an employee assistance programme and pension package.
Whatever the role, Primark has plenty of training programmes in place to help successful candidates develop a career in retail within the business and beyond.
Each role plays an important part in creating a fantastic store experience. As a retail assistant, day-to-day responsibilities vary from restocking the sales floor to serving customers at the tills.
At the same time, stockroom colleagues are responsible for processing all deliveries in and out of the stockroom. Visual merchandisers are key for inspiring and enticing Primark customers by creating and displaying colourful products on mannequins and other fixtures around the store. Interested applicants can find more detail on vacancies and how to apply at careers.primark.com/.
The exact opening date will be confirmed nearer the time, and in the meantime, Salisbury shoppers can continue to shop Primark products at the nearby Basingstoke, Winchester or Southampton stores. Customers can use our online stock checker to check the availability of their favourite styles before heading in-store.
Primark Salisbury store manager Christopher Carter said: “Our construction team has been busy getting the store ready over the last few months, and now it's time for the next step on our journey.
Primark is an amazing place to work, and we’re looking forward to welcoming 100 new members to the family over the coming months as we prepare for launch in September. We know that Salisbury shoppers have been eagerly awaiting the opening, so we can’t wait to welcome them to store.”
Primark Salisbury is the retailer’s first new store opening in England in over two years and will become Primark’s 192nd in the UK.
Its opening is part of Primark’s £140m investment in UK retail as it looks to invest in its stores and give customers even more reasons to visit their local high streets.
