People in the Park returns bigger and better this September

People in the Park is returning to Elizabeth Gardens on 18th September 2021.

The organisers, Salisbury Transition city, said that last year’s event was such a resounding success that they have decided to host the event once again.

This year’s programme is promised to be even bigger and better with additional stalls, stages and entertainment running into the early evening.

From 11am until 7.30pm there will be a continuous programme of live music, entertainment, poetry, and talks from a wide range of community, sustainability, and environmental groups. All performed on and around two eco-friendly powered stages.

The newly introduced ‘youth stage’ will showcase young local acts who will be given the chance to gain an audience, and a following. The stage will be powered by ‘pedal power’, while the main stage will be supplied by an electric car hook up with the stored energy supplied from sustainable energy sources.

‘People in the Park’ will feature many opportunities to hear, learn and discuss community, environmental and sustainability issues. Those active in the community will be able to network with other activist groups to help generate even greater local synergy from all those working towards achieving and adopting sustainable lifestyles.

John Glen MP, will be talking and hosting a Q&A session.

Many stalls from local and regional groups and independent retailers will be at the event. Just a few of the attractions set to attend are Salisbury Wildlife, Blueberry Den, Harnham Table, Salisbury & Wilton Swifts, Plant and Seed swap, Share Salisbury, and the popular Salisbury Repair Café.

Bradley Thompson, co-director of STC commented: “People in the Park was so brilliant last year and such a great way to say thank you to the community for all the amazing things that people were getting together to achieve, especially during such a difficult time.

“This year we wanted to come back bigger, better and even more fun than last time… and I think we have achieved that! We can’t wait to see you all there”.
