PCC wants to hear from victims of crime

Victims of crime in Wiltshire and Swindon are being urged to share their experiences of reporting to police and accessing victim support services.

Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson is also keen to hear from those who didn’t report to the police or access any support services.

An anonymous short survey has been developed, and feedback is being sought to understand victim satisfaction in the police and support services. The aim is to improve the victim's journey and increase confidence in reporting and accessing support.

Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson said: “I continue to be concerned about the under-reporting of crime and the lasting impacts and risks this can have for victims and survivors.

“The reasons for victims not reporting what has happened to them can be complex, and by understanding these better, we can make services easier for victims to access and ensure they receive the support they need.”

The survey can be accessed on the Police and Crime Commissioner’s website and is now open on an ongoing basis to ensure the best possible service is provided for victims of crime by both the police and victim support services.

Victims of crime do not need to report to the police to access support and can access support no matter the time since a crime occurred. More information on support available for victims and witnesses can be found on the OPCC website: Victim and Witness services hub (wiltshire-pcc.gov.uk)
