Online webinar to share information and future plans on Family Hubs in Wiltshire

Families, children and young people are invited to join a discussion online to find out more about the support and advice available from Family Hubs in Wiltshire.

The online webinar will be held on 29th April from 6 pm so people can ask questions and learn more about the face-to-face hubs and the online offer.

Wiltshire Council launched Family Hubs on 2nd April to give greater local community support and guidance for families and children aged 0 to 19, extending to 25 years for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Wiltshire Council has awarded the £3m contract to Spurgeons to provide the new Family Hubs in communities across the county.

Three main hubs are now operating at County Hall in Trowbridge, Monkton Park in Chippenham and Five Rivers in Salisbury.

Additionally, regular family hub support will be available at advertised times at “navigator locations” in various community venues around the county, including libraries and leisure centres.

There is also a digital platform that can be accessed on phones, tablets or computers, offering information, support, and courses to give children, young people and families the help and guidance they need to thrive. There will be a team of navigators who will have a visible presence in the community, including the hubs to ensure they are on hand to offer help to families that need it, and to signpost and create links to other agencies, such as local schools and early years providers.

Cllr Laura Mayes, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “We are just four weeks into this new approach and now we want to share how it’s going and the plans for the future. It was thanks to feedback from families, children and young people that we have this new approach which is a mixture of different venues, community hubs and online 24-hour support. This is because we were told people wanted to access support, classes and advice in a way that best suits them”

“Our Family Hub model offers face-to-face support from trained, skilled staff with a variety of groups, courses, and classes on offer. There is also that 24/7 aspect, with the digital platform offering advice and support any time. The approach aligns with our Business Plan, which aims to empower people to lead enriched lives and to provide children with the best start in life. This online webinar will provide an opportunity to provide latest updates, answer any questions and share plans for the future. “

Ian Soars, Chief Executive of Spurgeons, said: “Spurgeons are proud to support Wiltshire Council in the roll out of the innovative and localised delivery that places support for families in the heart of communities across the county. We believe that together we can ensure that every family can easily access the services and support they need to flourish.”
