Live Escape Rooms Salisbury will be closing their award-winning escape room ‘Spectre’ on Castle Street from September 15th.
But as one experience closes, two more will open at their location in The Cross Keys Shopping Centre.
Husband and wife owners Claire and Charlie Pitcher have been building their new escape room, The Smallsbury Toy Company, on the first floor of the 14th century Grade II listed location. Charlie explains: “This is the biggest and most involved escape room experience we’ve created yet. It spans the entire first floor and, when completed, will be a 75-minute game for up to six players.”
Teams can expect a nostalgic trip back in time as they puzzle their way through games inspired by some of the classic board games of their childhood.
Claire says: “I was a teenager in the 90s. The world of gaming, music, computing and storytelling was so different to now. I had a Sony Walkman, a Commodore 64 and a bookshelf full of VHS and cassette tapes. Set in the same era, The Smallsbury Toy Company will have so many elements that will remind you of those heady days.”
The new escape room in Salisbury has been years in the making, with many of the puzzles themselves completed in lockdown. “There are so many elements to this game,” explains Charlie. “Transforming the space itself to house all of the parts is a major undertaking but we cannot wait to start testing.”
Live Escape Rooms Salisbury is not only renowned in the city for its escape rooms but also for their paranormal experiences and music events. Another experience will open for bookings from September: ‘The Medieval Games’.
“The games will be a two-hour experience for larger groups - eight to 16 people,” says Claire. “The group is split into two and they will compete head to head in a series of medieval-themed silly games in a bid to win gold. The team with the most gold at the end – wins!”
Presiding over the Medieval Games will be his lord and ladyship: “Like with our other experiences, the hosts will be in full character and costume and those taking part are encouraged to dress the part too.”
“Our Medieval Games are the perfect activity for team building, Christmas parties, as well as celebrations or if you just want to experience an authentic evening of 14th century merriment with ales, mead and wines.”
