Dave Hancock, Landlord of Deacons pub, Salisbury, has paid tribute to one of his pub regulars, George Chapman, who sadly passed away on the 26th August aged 67.
Speaking to Love Salisbury, Dave said: “George has been at the heart of the Deacons community for decades and fair to say, part of the furniture. George was loyal, hard-working, always there to give advice and most of all kept everyone in check!
“George will be hugely missed by all and we will make sure his legacy lives on in Deacons. Anyone wishing to pay their respects and celebrate his life next week will be made to feel very welcome”.
A popular man among the Salisbury community, George was a roof tiler who later retrained as a support worker to care for disabled adults.
George is described by his wife Ann as “a wonderful husband with a beautiful soul. He loved a horse bet, a pint and a laugh with his many friends. A true cheeky gentleman with no bad words against anyone, loved by all.”
Anyone wishing to attend Geoge’s funeral is welcome to the service on Wednesday 15th September at Salisbury Crematorium at 11am. The wake will be at Deacons and Cactus Jacks after the ceremony.
All are welcome and there is no dress code.
