Salisbury Radio and Love Salisbury are increasing our sports news and coverage of local football thanks to a new partnership.
Something lacking in the local news and media landscape for a while has been good coverage of local sport and we want to fix that.
Thanks to a new relationship with Solent University, we now have two new aspiring journalists working with us to produce local news content each week.
Louis Moore and Reece Barrett are joining the journalism team here at Salisbury Radio team with the sole purpose of keeping an eye on football across the city.
We will cover Salisbury FC games closely, bringing match reports from home games.
We will also keep an eye on Salisbury FC Women's fixtures and results, as well as our two Wessex Premier League sides, Laverstock and Ford FC and Bemerton Heath Harlequins.
Expect to hear local sports news on Salisbury Radio at the weekend, live updates during matches and hear about the results on a Monday morning.
Salisbury Radio station manager Craig Hicks said: "The two students coming in from Solent University are great. During the recruitment process, both impressed us with their talent but also their enthusiasm for bringing sports news to our audience both on-air and online via lovesalisbury.co.uk and our social media channels.
"We want to tell the stories of what is going on in our city, and football and sport, in general, is a big part of that. It's exciting to have two talented journalists joining us here
"Hopefully, this is just the start as we build more local content into the radio station. We have some exciting news to come in the next few days and weeks!"
