Wessex Premier League side Laverstock and Ford Football Club have reached the FA Cup first qualifying round for the first time in their history.
Laverstock had already overcome Alresford Town in the Extra Preliminary round thanks to a 4-0 replay win. Liam McConnell's side then dispatched United Services Portsmouth at the weekend in the Preliminary round.
Around 200 spectators watched on at The Dell as the home side scrapped to their two-nil win. Captain Adam Bourner hit a rocket to give Lavvy the lead just before halftime. Chae Sykes made things more comfortable when he added a second in the second half.
Laverstock is a club on the rise, having been promoted back to the Wessex Premier League this season. The promotion was the culmination of a long unbeaten run at the end of the season after ten years away.
Manager, Liam McConnell, was delighted with the performance and progression; 'We're really pleased; there is lots of excitement around the club. We knew going into the game there was a chance we could make a little bit of history going into the game.'
'We controlled the game; it was great to get a clean sheet. A cracking first goal just before halftime gave us a platform. It was a chance for us to have our little moment, and now we're here; let's see what happens.'
He continued, 'With these cup games, and all the excitement that builds up, it's only a positive, and the competition money is always a welcome bonus for the club.'
The qualifying rounds see more sides added to the competition, including Steve Claridge's Salisbury FC. The draw was made today (22nd August) at 1 pm.
Laverstock and Ford FC will be away to either Cinderford Town or Chipping Sodbury
Salisbury FC will travel to Poole Town in their tie.
Teams will play the games on the weekend of Saturday 3rd September 2022.
