Salisbury City Council and Magna Learning Partnership have teamed up to provide a chance for girls to participate in various sports in a friendly, supportive environment.
According to research, English girls are among some of the least active in the world. It is thought that only 16% of girls meet the UK physical activity guidelines of 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous intensity activity each day. We all know the benefit of a healthy lifestyle and how embedding these values in children will help provide a healthy sporting habits for life.
With this in mind, Salisbury City Council, along with Magna Learning Partnership, are providing a low-cost sporting opportunity for girls in school years 5 – 8 in the Salisbury area on Tuesdays from 4:30 until 5:30 at Sarum Academy (term time only) starting in January.
Just For Girls Multi-sport will deliver several games and activities alongside various sports-related activities such as hockey, football, cricket, dodgeball etc. The club will be delivered by Ellie from District Sports. Children will have the opportunity to try a range of activities with additional coaches coming in to deliver specific sports where needed.
Participants will receive five free sessions initially, and if they wish to continue can pre-book to secure their places for £3 per session (paid upfront). To book your child’s free sessions, please go to: https://form.jotform.com/BemertonHeath/SCCPRF
To run these sessions, we need volunteers to help; if you would like to volunteer for some or all the sessions or more information related to this project, email Tom Gailey at Salisbury City Council - tgailey@salisburycitycouncil.gov.uk
