We are being advised that services at Salisbury District Hospital are being affected by the Juniors Doctor's strike.
The strikes started at 7 am this morning (11th April) and run for four days, with the hospital running a 'bank holiday service'.
In a statement, the hospital said: "During the upcoming industrial action by Junior Doctors, 11 - 15 April, Salisbury District Hospital will be operating a Bank Holiday level service. The focus of the hospital during the four days of strike action is to maintain safe and compassionate patient care.
"Our Accident & Emergency Department will be fully functional as will our Maternity Unit, and we will have safe staffing levels for all inpatients. We’re working to ensure our wards are safely staffed and that critical services are maintained.
"If you have a family member waiting to be discharged, please try to respond quickly to calls about their ongoing care at home or in another setting and help to get them home for Easter.
"Please be aware that many of our outpatient clinics and planned surgery may be unable to go ahead as planned. Patients impacted will be contacted directly by the hospital. If you are not contacted directly, we would ask you to attend as planned.
"We also ask that you only attend A&E unless you have a life-threatening illness or severe injury. For illness and injuries that are not life-threatening or urgent, you can use alternatives such as your NHS 111 online, the Salisbury Walk-in Centre, your GP or local pharmacy.
Junior doctors are asking for a 35 per cent pay rise after years of below-inflation increases.
They voted overwhelmingly – 98 per cent on a 77 per cent turnout in a ballot organised by the British Medical Association (BMA) – to strike.
