Inclusive bar and cafe set to open

Progress Cafe Bar has announced that it will be opening its doors to the public this Friday (18th November 2022) at midday.

Progress is a new, relaxed, safe and inclusive venue for the LGBTQ+ community coming to Salisbury.

Taking over the former Koh Thai building on Endless Street, ‘Progress Bar’ will be run by Salisbury Pride CIC as a community Café and Bar that serves food and drink with a choice of coffee, wine, spirits, cocktails, draught beers and soft drinks.

There will also be music and entertainment nights at the venue, including drag dinners, cabaret, comedy, craft clubs, workshops and more.

The space will not be LGBTQ+-exclusive but a community venue where anyone can go and feel welcome, accepted and safe.

Lots of work has been going on behind the scenes in the former restaurant and nightclub building, with the whole building being cleaned, painted and readied to welcome guests.

A team of volunteers and support from local business has made the transformation possible with work being done around the clock.

Paint colours have been chosen to be calming, and the building is accessible too.

Salisbury Radio was given a tour of the building at the weekend as work to prepare to open continued. The finishing touches were being put on woodwork and furniture, with the bar area ready to serve.
