The Shipton Needs A Pub (SNAP) Campaign saw tremendous community backing at its village update meeting on Wednesday, 11th September 2024, with more than 80 residents gathering at the Shipton Bellinger Sports & Social Club.
The strong turnout demonstrated the village’s commitment to the community-led initiative to purchase and reopen The Boot Inn as a thriving community hub.
Attendees were shown a short film outlining the campaign’s vision and the critical steps ahead, including a building survey and feasibility study. These steps are key to bringing The Boot Inn back to life as a community-owned pub—a space for social gatherings, events, and a place where residents, military families, and veterans can come together and connect.
The energy in the room was electric, with many offering ideas, pledging support, and showing enthusiasm for the project. Interest in the SNAP Campaign has grown beyond Shipton Bellinger, with attention from both near and far recognising the value of restoring The Boot Inn to the heart of the village.
Tobie Clapcott, Director of Communications for Shipton Community Pub Limited, commented: “The excitement and pride in the room were amazing. Seeing over 80 residents come together shows how much this project means to our community.
"This isn’t just about reopening a pub—it’s about creating a space where we can all connect, share, and belong. The attention and support we’ve had from across the region underline how important this is for everyone.”
For those who missed the event, updates and opportunities to donate are available on the campaign’s website at www.shiptonneedsapub.co.uk. Every contribution brings the project one step closer to purchasing and reopening The Boot Inn as a community asset for the future.
The SNAP Campaign is hosting a Quiz Night on 19th October 2024, 8pm at the Shipton Bellinger Sports & Social Club. With tickets available via the website, all proceeds will go towards making this project a reality.
