Gosport Borough vs Salisbury - Match Preview

It's been a rollercoaster week for Salisbury with results toying with emotions.

A triumphant 3-0 victory over Metropolitan Police (a side Salisbury have never beaten before) last Saturday landed the Whites on cloud nine.

However, the highs of the squad were quickly grounded on Tuesday night when Brian Dutton's squad were battered 6-1 away to Bracknell Town.

But now the focus shifts to Saturday afternoon when another away trip sees Salisbury travel to Portsmouth as they take on Gosport Borough.

Just 6 points and three places separate the two sides in the Southern Premiership, and although Gosport have only won 4 games since the turn of the year, one of them was against Salisbury.

The sides faced off on the 31st of January at the Ray Mac stadium, where the visitors came out as 3-1 winners.

Since then, however, both sides have been steady in results, picking up points here and there, but have also slipped towards the bottom half of the table.

Salisbury currently sit in 14th, but a win could see them go up a position. Whereas Gosport Borough are 17th and just 6 points clear of the bottom three.

It goes without saying that both sides could do with a win, but as the season ticks on and games coming in fast, the whites will be looking to better their 15th-place finish last year.
