From today, a northbound section of The Avenue in Wilton will be closed for three weeks.
Work is scheduled to begin today (Monday, February 17th) and will last for three weeks.
SGN contractors are returning to complete the replacement of a section of the gas main on The Avenue, between the junction of Fairview Road and the Wilton Roundabout.
To safely carry out the works and prevent traffic congestion on the roundabout, a northbound lane closure will be in place, managed with temporary traffic lights.
This means there will be no northbound vehicle access on The Avenue from the roundabout to Fairview Road, although the southbound lane will remain open as usual.
SGN said: "Bus routes northbound on The Avenue will be affected – we’d advise passengers to contact their service provider for the latest update on routes, timetables and bus stop locations.
"Bin collection days will remain unchanged unless your service provider advises you otherwise.
"These works are essential to ensure we can continue to provide residents and the wider community with a safe and efficient gas supply. By replacing the old metal gas pipe with a new plastic pipe we can avoid further leaks on this gas main in the future."
The Wilton Park & Ride site will remain open during the works, but access will be restricted. Vehicles approaching from the south or west must use the rear entrance, located off the A36 next to Kingsway Industrial Estate.
Regular buses will not be able to enter the Wilton Park & Ride site. Instead, a dedicated Park & Ride shuttle service will operate exclusively between the site, the Railway Station, and the New Canal in the City Centre.
Some routes will be diverted with the PR3, 2A, R10 and 603 affected - details can be found here - https://www.salisburyreds.co.uk/avenue-wilton-closure-dfrom-17-february
SGN said: "We understand these works will be disruptive for residents and local road users, please be assured our engineers will be working as quickly and as safely as possible to complete these works without delay."
