Fundraising fun at Laverstock and Ford Sports Club this weekend

On Sunday 29th August Laverstock and Ford Sports Club are hosting a family fundraiser with a range of activities and a game of 5-a-side football in aid of the John Mcneill Opportunity Centre.

Head on down to Lavertstock and FordSports Club this Sunday for a day of family fun for a fantastic cause.

The 5-a-side football tournament promises a day of entertainment with 16 teams ranging in age and ability, but that's not all...

Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm will be on tour with their furry friends, giving children the opportunity to meet and greet the animals; Hartbeeps will be offering fun sessions for babies and toddlers throughout the day, promised to be full of magic and sprinkles; and Kidz Love Fit will be channelling the children’s energy in two action-packed fitness sessions.

There will also be a variety of performances from Starcast Performing Arts School, and a collection of inflatables and classic sports day style games.

Refreshments will be served from the Frying Tuck, Posh Crepes, The Merry Mule Cocktail Bar, Carlos Ices and of course a homemade bake sale.

Entry to the event is £1 with proceeds going to the John McNeill Opportunity Centre.

Speaking the event's organiser, Emma Hurst said after seeing the benefits of attending the John McNeill Opportunity Centre she wanted to give something back.

Speaking to Love Salisbury, Emma said: “My daughter attends the John McNeill Opportunity Centre and we’ve seen what fantastic progress can be achieved with the right staff and the right support.

"Avah has an extremely rare genetic condition called Trisomy 9 Mosaicism. The odds of having this condition are around 1 in 100 million. There is very little data about a condition this rare and yet the staff at the centre have worked to understand Avah’s abilities and challenges and respond accordingly.

“I really wanted to give something back and raise funds for the centre to ensure they had access to what the children need. With such a broad variety of needs across the cohort of children who attend, this requires a variety of intervention and equipment and the Funday on Sunday will go some way to raising funds to allow for this.”
