OSJCT Willowcroft care home will reopen the doors of its day centre tomorrow (Friday, 2nd December) with the launch of a new warm spaces initiative.
Older people across Salisbury are welcome to join residents, staff and other members of the community for a hot drink and friendly chat. The Cosy Club will run between 9 am and 4 pm throughout December and January.
Carol Wootton, Home Manager at OSJCT Willowcroft, said, “We’re really excited to be able to open our doors to older people in our community. It will be a great chance to get out and meet people, have a cuppa and a chat, and even get some exercise! We’re delighted to be able to offer up space to put on these sessions.”
Harnham Physiotherapy Community Rehabilitation team has volunteered to support the “Cosy Club” by providing free exercise classes to promote strength, flexibility, fitness and function. Exercise is widely known to support both physical health and mental well-being. This local specialist and experienced team have delivered classes in various local care homes over the past eight years.
Marie Roberts, Chartered Physiotherapist and Clinic Director at Harnham Physiotherapy, said, “The clinic has recently been celebrating ten years of helping the people of Salisbury, and we see this opportunity to support Willowcroft’s Cosy Club with exercise classes as another way to give something back and support the local community.”
Harnham Physiotherapy often works out in people’s homes and in care homes and has recently launched leaflets promoting chair-based exercise to encourage wider access to regular physical activity.
There is no need to book either the Cosy Club or the exercise classes, and attendance at both is free of charge.
Please contact OSJCT Willowcroft for more information and the dates of the free classes on 01722 323477.
