Bemerton John Primary School in Lower Bemerton have recently appointed a former pupil as its new permanent head teacher.
Mrs Claire Pearce had been acting as headteacher since her predecessor, Alun Richards, moved to a new role within the Magna Learning Partnership trust in September.
As a child, Mrs Pearce attended the school in the 1990s. She studied at the University of Southampton before becoming a teacher and moved back to Bemerton St John as a class teacher in 2011.
She became deputy head in 2015 after being Key Stage 2 lead.
The school team has already been asking, is there a future headteacher within the school?
On her appointment, Claire Pearce said: "Becoming the Headteacher at Bemerton St John Primary School is a tremendous honour; I feel immensely privileged to work alongside the most inspiring and dedicated children, staff, parents and Governors.
"My passion and investment regarding our school community is longstanding due to being a member of staff for almost twelve years and a former pupil – I’m very excited about our new chapter and the opportunity to build on our existing achievements and successes."
Sarah Busby, CEO of Magna Learning Partnership, said: "We are delighted to appoint a former pupil of the school to the role of Headteacher for Bemerton St John Primary School.
"We know that Mrs Pearce will provide an excellent role model for our children, and, who knows, could inspire a future Headteacher for the school?"
