The all-new gym at Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre reopened yesterday (Monday, 2nd September) following a major refurbishment.

Funded by the council’s ongoing investment in its leisure facilities, the fitness suite has undergone a three-week transformation complete with a modern, stylish interior and all-new flooring. Gym users have been able to use the temporary gym located in the sports hall during the three-week closure.

Customers will benefit from all-new, modern and sought-after gym equipment, with exciting additions such as an exhilarating SkiErg machine, curved treadmills, tyre flip, a plate-loaded hip thrust, air bike and a gym sled track.

People wishing to take part in a detailed show round of the gym and familiarise themselves with the new equipment can book in for group induction sessions led by fitness consultants. Sessions are bookable online at https://leisure.wiltshire.gov.uk/LhWeb/en/Public or at reception.

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “We are really excited to show our customers the new and improved gym at Five Rivers. We’re sure that they will agree that the new facilities offer some of the highest quality fitness opportunities in the local area, with really in-demand and coveted equipment now available.

“We want to encourage more people to prioritise their health and wellbeing and increase their activities, whilst also offering good value and safe, well-maintained buildings, which is why we are investing significantly in our fitness facilities across the county.

“We thank the customers for their patience whilst the upgrade work took place and we hope people really enjoy using the new facilities when they visit. Anyone who is not yet a member and wants to get involved, can take advantage of the re-opening membership offer.”

A membership offer is available from now until Sunday, 15th September, to encourage people to come and try out the new facilities. Join now with no admin fee to pay, plus no membership fees to pay until October, on specific Life Zone, Fitness Zone or Swim Zone direct debit memberships. Terms apply. Work to upgrade the main studio and the cycle studio to include a virtual group exercise class platform has also recently been completed at the centre, giving customers more choice and flexibility.

The health suite located in the gym changing room area, will also reopen to the public from 12 pm yesterday. The facilities, which include a sauna and steam room, have been closed since early 2023 due to rising costs and have reopened on a trial basis. More information on the trial can be found at September opening for Five Rivers health suite - Wiltshire Council.
