Extinction Rebellion Salisbury is pleased to announce a special event in honour of World Ocean Day. On June 8th, Professor Chris Armstrong, renowned author of the award-winning book "A Blue New Deal: Why We Need a New Politics for the Ocean," will take the stage at the Guildhall to discuss the critical state of ocean politics and propose ways to bring about positive change.
Given the urgency of the situation, Extinction Rebellion Salisbury aims to engage the local community in a discussion about the current state of our oceans and the necessary steps to protect them. World Ocean Day, observed on June 8th, serves as an ideal occasion to raise awareness and promote meaningful action.
The highlight of the event will be a talk by Professor Chris Armstrong, an esteemed expert in justice, conservation, natural resources, and climate-related issues. Professor Armstrong's presentation, titled "Why ocean politics is Failing – and how we can do better," promises to provide valuable insights and potential solutions to the challenges at hand.
The Salisbury City Council, recognizing the significance of public education and awareness surrounding climate change issues, has graciously supported this event. The Council's leaders have granted the use of the Guildhall, demonstrating their commitment to tackling climate change.
