The Chapel’s latest event is sexy, scandalous, and full of banter that will make you laugh out loud.
This week saw the launch of The Chapel’s new mid-week event with a VIP performance of ‘Dixie Normous presents Boujee Bingo & Let's get Quizzical.’
Happening every Wednesday from 8pm, this super fun and frivolous event sees local drag artist Dixie Normous take up residency at The Chapel for an evening of drag, bingo, quiz questions and karaoke.
Each week there will be cabaret and karaoke with 'Boujie Bingo' and 'Let's get quizzical' alternating each week. Tickets are £5 and can be bought online at The Chapel Live website. Tickets for next Wednesday's Bougie Bingo will be on sale later today (4th February 2022).
Speaking to the event organiser, Beth Doe said, “Knightwood Leisure and Dixie Normous are both very keen on creating a space that is inclusive, especially for the LGBTQIA+ community. We have created this weekly event centred around fun and entertainment where anyone is welcome.”
Cllr Caroline Corbin, Mayor of Salisbury and the Salisbury Pride coordinator officially declared the event open.
“This event is needed - everyone loves RuPaul’s Drag race so why can’t we bring Salisbury into the 21st century. Dixie is a lovely person and I have the utmost respect for what she does as a performer. I think her show will just get better and better.
“It's so important to give the LGBTQ community or anybody really, the faith that they can come and it’s a safe and supported environment to let your hair down and enjoy yourself.
“Going forward, Salisbury Pride will benefit from the growth of events like these because Dixie is one of our favourite drag queens and will be seen at our events in the future - hopefully we can have much more of these events in the city.”
The VIP launch was a small and tough crowd, yet Dixie was the absolute life and soul of the party getting everyone on their feet, singing at the top of their lungs, and laughing out loud.
This show is not for the faint-hearted, Dixie’s banter and interaction with the audience is brutal but absolutely brilliant.
“I love Salisbury, everyone is always so welcoming and I do a lot of performances here. We hope to build this event to create a fun, inclusive, safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community but everyone and anyone who is up for a good time is welcome,” said Dixie.
Expect a no holds barred performance, cheeky prizes and feel-good vibes. This is the event Salisbury has been waiting for.
