Double Bank Holiday Football for the Whites

Brian Dutton’s side will play two Vanarama National League South matches over the Easter weekend. The first is a trip to Weymouth on Good Friday.

Despite losing at the weekend, The Whites have maintained a three-point gap over the teams occupying the relegation places at the bottom of the table, thanks to St Albans and Welling United also falling to defeat.

With three games left of the season, Salisbury, for the second game in a row, face a team already relegated in Weymouth.

Over the last six games, Weymouth have had some of their best results of the season and picked up seven points from those games, beating Boreham Wood and Slough Town in their last two home games, whilst also losing to Eastbourne Borough and, most recently, a nil-nil draw away at Maidstone United.

It would appear that despite their relegation being confirmed, the players have not checked out and look to play out the remainder of the season with pride and looking to upset a few teams along the way.

Weymouth manager Warren Feeney said that he thought his players were exceptional at Maidstone:

Salisbury still need points from their last three league games of the season to ensure their status at Step Two of non-league football continues into a second season.

Like Weymouth, Brian Dutton’s side has picked up seven points over the last six matches, but they are now two games without picking up any points. Dutton’s small squad is looking thin on the ground, with several injuries affecting the side in the crucial climax to the season.

At the Ray Mac on Saturday, Salisbury were beaten by bottom-of-the-table Aveley, who won for the first time since February. Goals from Harry Beadle and Junior Nkwonta dampened the spirits and hopes of the Whites supporters inside the ground.

Brian Dutton shared his disappointment and frustration after the game:

Dutton will be hoping his side bounce back from the performance at Aveley, in what will be a tough game at the Bob Lucas Stadium, Weymouth.
