Wiltshire Council has launched a brand-new web app to help both residents and visitors to Wiltshire find events and activities near them all year round.
Explore Wiltshire Events enables people to search for events based on location, category, date and available amenities. It is packed with events from around the county, to help people find everything from community celebrations and family-friendly concerts to fun-filled festivals and exciting exhibitions.
The web app is available on computers, smartphones and tablets at events.wiltshire.gov.uk and can be accessed through all major web browsers. People can also add the web app to their home screen on their mobile device to access it as an app.
Events are added to the web app by trusted partners such as arts, culture, leisure and tourism operators; museums; and town and parish councils – so people can be assured that the events listings are both interesting and relevant. The web app is also a good way for organisers to attract stallholders and other vendors to events.
Cllr Richard Clewer, Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: “We’re delighted to launch our new Explore Wiltshire Events app to encourage more people to get out and about in Wiltshire.
“The app is packed full of fantastic events for everyone that will not only attract residents and tourists, but also help to boost the county’s economy, which is one of our key Business Plan aims.
“The funding for this app has been provided through our Wiltshire Towns Programme, a £1m investment each year for four years that seek to transform Wiltshire's high streets by growing businesses and supporting employment.
“I’d encourage anyone looking for a day out in Wiltshire to check out our new app to find something fun to do near them, particularly as the summer approaches and the longer days are upon us.”
The web app has been developed by Calvium. Jo Reid, CEO of Calvium, said: “Wiltshire Council has considered deeply how digital technologies can benefit their local communities and visitors, and how to increase event engagement with a coherent, active and attractive online presence.
