City Council invests in Salisbury CCTV system upgrade

Salisbury's CCTV will soon benefit from a system upgrade due to additional funding from Salisbury City Council.

With working and volunteering hours continuing to rise, as well as the expansion of CCTV in the City, the control room system now needs an upgrade and an additional budget of £25,000 has been agreed upon to do this.

The installation will take place in May and be carried out by contractors Smart Integrated Solutions.

The new software will enable the operators to work more effectively and continue to uphold CCTV and data protection regulations.

In addition to a system upgrade, four deployable CCTV cameras will soon be installed in the City following Salisbury City Council’s successful bid to the government’s Safer Street Funding.

The cameras will join the 64 cameras already installed across the City and recording 24/7.

Salisbury CCTV plays a very important role in keeping the city safe and preventing and detecting crime.

The control room is monitored by a fantastic team that does a great job of providing vital evidence and intelligence to partners, including the Police, ShopWatch, PubWatch, and City Centre Security Officers.

If you would like to play a key role in the community by joining the team as a volunteer CCTV Operator, please get in touch with the CCTV Manager, Keith Jackson at kjackson@salisburycitycouncil.gov.uk
