Celebrate National Children’s Gardening Week at Victoria Park

On Wednesday 1st June Salisbury City Council will host Fun in the Park to celebrate National Children’s Gardening Week and unveil the Queen’s Canopy trees plaque.

The free event will take place in Victoria Park from 11am until 3pm and will give families with children aged around 5 - 11 the opportunity to have fun outdoors and enjoy a range of gardening themed workshops.

Activities include a clay workshop, planting a sunflower, flower crafting and bug hotel and bird feeder making. There will also be face painting and a glitter tattooist.

On top of this, Share Salisbury will be giving attendees access to a 'Library of Things' to borrow either on a one-off basis or at a reduced cost with a membership plan.

Children will be able to take away free wildflower seeds so they can learn how to grow plants that are great for the environment at home. The Mayor of Salisbury will also be attending.

Chair of the Environmental Working Group, Cllr Wells said, “As part of the City Council’s commitment to engage with the community about the environment, Fun in the Park will be a great free event for children with activities that will help them learn about nature and the climate. Parents are welcome to get stuck in too.”
