Burglary suspect arrested by patrolling officers

Yesterday morning, Sunday 29th October, a male in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of burglary in the Old Sarum area.

The male was escorted to Swindon custody.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said, "Just after 10:00hrs this morning, PC Rachel Gunn and PCSO Jenny Moss were on patrol in Old Sarum when they heard an alarm. When officers conducted a check of the building, they located a local male who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary.

"The male has also been identified as the suspect for a number of recent thefts in the area and will also be spoken to about these whilst in custody. Following a premises search, approximately £3,500 of suspected stolen goods were located and seized.

"We’d like to ask our communities to allow us to conduct the investigation and not to speculate on Facebook about this further. We will provide an update to the community as soon as we can.

"In the meantime, if you are a victim of crime or anti-social behaviour we’d ask that you report these matters on either 101 or via our website."
