Following a triumphant season of promotions and cup victories, Bemerton Heath Harlequins FC is proud to announce its expansion into women's football with the establishment of Bemerton Heath Harlequins Ladies FC. The team will join the rapidly growing Wiltshire County Women's & Girl's League, competing on Sundays and proudly calling Moon Park their home ground.
With the Women's World Cup on the horizon and the tremendous success of the Lionesses at the Euros, there couldn't be a more opportune time to contribute to the growth of women's football. The dedicated team at Bemerton Heath Harlequins aims to cultivate a happy, supportive, and successful environment, ensuring the club remains an invaluable community asset.
Director of Football, Ian Saunders, expressed his elation, stating, "I am absolutely over the moon that our club has another integral piece of the true community club jigsaw. We revived our Youth section with the ambition of catering to 'everyone' in and around our community. The inclusion of the ladies' team now provides that platform. We eagerly look forward to working closely with our new team during this exciting period for our club."
Trials for the ladies' team will take place at Hudson's Field on July 12th (7 pm-9 pm), July 16th (10 am-12 pm), and July 19th (7 pm-9 pm). Interested individuals are encouraged to register their interest by emailing BHHLFC@gmail.com. The team has already received significant interest and eagerly anticipates meeting potential players.
BHHLFC will soon announce friendly matches, management staff, and sponsors over the next week. The team's inaugural pre-season friendly will see them travel to Southampton to face the newly formed Eling Ladies FC on August 13th, offering an exciting challenge for two budding squads. There are abundant opportunities to get involved in supporting the team—interested parties can reach out via the provided email address or contact BHHLFC through their social media channels.
The management team and players will be present at this year's Salisbury Summer Fair, hosting a Bemerton Heath Harlequins stall and Beat-The-Keeper challenge to raise funds for both the team and Salisbury Hospice Charity. Join the festivities on August 5th at Wilton House, where you can engage with the team, show support for Salisbury Hospice, and enjoy thrilling football challenges with exciting prizes.
As preparations for the upcoming season commence, Bemerton Heath Harlequins eagerly anticipates meeting new faces and participating in various community events.
