Baileys and Salisbury Radio join forces to support Fisherton Street businesses

Businesses on Fisherton Street have found life difficult as work continues on the Fisherton Gateway project.

The work has forced pavement closures and temporarily made the road one-way. This has led to a significant reduction in footfall and trade for many of the businesses on Fisherton Street, with some really struggling.

Salisbury's local radio station has worked with Nigel, Robyn, Damon and the team at Baileys to visit every business on the street to work out ways to highlight the amazing products and services available and to increase awareness to the general public that they need our custom more than ever.

Baileys themselves have seen a drop in customer numbers visiting the store but have just employed a new delivery and installer as well as repairing customers appliances across the area and as far away as Southampton but want to remind people that "Fisherton Street is open for business".

As a result, Salisbury Radio has offered a solution to as many businesses on the road as possible, offering a huge reduction in advertising rates for the next three months.

Nigel McNally of Baileys said, “We have used Salisbury Radio for over two years to promote Baileys on Fisherton Street and are proud to partner with them to help raise awareness of other local companies and drive footfall back to Fisherton Street.

"Their advertising solutions really work for us, and we are working with the radio station to help other business owners also get the benefits of radio advertising for a fraction of the usual cost”

Already taking up the offer are a good number of businesses whose adverts you will hear on Salisbury Radio from today onwards:

Gullicks Florists Fisherton Mill Chris Wadge Clocks Mark Jones Eye & Hearing Care Mylor and Mawes Hair and Body Shapers

Several others are already in the process of signing up and preparing the information for their adverts.

David Harber, Salisbury Radio's Managing Director, said, "When we spoke to Nigel and the team at Baileys and learned how bad things are at the moment on Fisherton Street, we wanted to help.

"Salisbury Radio is here to be at the heart of our community, and that community needs these businesses not only to survive but thrive, so we put the offer together.

"The reception has been fantastic, and we can't wait to have the new adverts playing out to thousands of people across Salisbury, South Wiltshire, and West Hampshire."

Other businesses in Salisbury wanted to support the campaign, too. Hugh Davies & Co, accountants part of the Xeinadin Group, offered to help smaller businesses with the cost of their advertising so they could join the campaign.

Andy Munns, a director at Salisbury Radio, said, "All of us who live in the area need to do our part too; we need to make the extra effort to shop, dine or frequent the businesses on Fisherton Street. If we don't, we may lose some of these businesses, and if they go, they will not come back."

Parts of the first phase of the project are nearing completion. This means you can now walk quite a long way up Fisherton Street on the new paving, and it's accessible from Central Car Park, too.

Over the coming weeks, we will also highlight businesses via Salisbury Radio's website and social media accounts.
