A new bar has opened in Amesbury’s Wyndham hall.
Following the reopening of the community hall, the new bar has been built in a space previously occupied by a disused meeting room.
In May last year, The Diocese of Salisbury confirmed that the community hall was to be sold which caused concern among the local community and lead to a petition to save the hall started by the Wyndham Hall Action Group.
By December, the hall had been bought by Christine and Richard Glover, who hoped to protect the hall as an asset to be used for the community.
Available as an add on to the hall, the stylish new bar will be for exclusive hire. Operated by Sims Hospitality the bar will function under a commercial agreement with the hall operators.
Susie Kuczera, director at Sims Hospitality, explains, "We were delighted when we were approached by Mark and Rachel, the operators of the hall, to build and operate a bar on their behalf. We recognise Wyndham Hall as one of the areas best equipped and most well-presented halls for hire, so to invest in it seemed like a great opportunity to us.
“Whilst we have traditionally been focused on mobile bars, more venues are now looking to outsource their permanent bars, letting someone else take care of the overheads of stock, hardware and staff - whilst still giving the venue a commercial return. We hope this first permanent bar may be one of many in the future."
Mark Verbinnen, manager of the hall added, “We are extremely excited to welcome the Sims Hospitality Bar to the Wyndham Hall. Having a permanent Bar within our venue means that we can now cater for a much wider variety of events such as Birthdays, Anniversaries, Christenings, Wedding Receptions, Wakes and much more.
“Sims Hospitality has built a modern and stylish Bar that fits perfectly within the Main Hall and compliments the newly refurbished venue. The bar can be added to any booking request. More information about hiring the Wyndham Hall is available on our website.”
