#GAMEOFF was trending on 'local football Twitter' before the game, but this fixture (despite the continuous spit of rain all morning) passed the surface check and was deemed on.
This year on transfer deadline day we saw Enzo Fernandes move to Chelsea for a record fee, Jorginho join London rivals, and Nottingham Forest sign Champions League and World Cup experienced Felipe.
But I doubt any of those transfers were signed as late or made their debut quite as quickly as Mark Smith - Salisbury's latest edition.
The goalkeeper put pen to paper at half past ten this morning following his move from Eastbourne Borough and was thrown straight into the deep end as he was named on the team sheet to start.
There was also a rare start for young forward Devon Arnold who's impressed off the bench and in cup competitions this year, perhaps an injection of youthful spirit and energy in the plans for Brian Dutton as he aims to turn Salisburys season around.
As the game began the Whites set themselves up in a back three and found their success through their wingbacks who were loving the space given to them out wide.
But as time ticked on North Leigh grew into the game and thought they found a breakthrough.
The ball was clipped over the top, but was seemingly under control with Nassim Kherbouche heading it back to debut keeper Smith.
But a complete misjudge between the two gave the striker a chance to pounce, but an excellent recovery from the center-back as he got across his man and put his body on the line to block the shot and clear the effort off the line.
10 minutes later in the 23rd minute, Salisbury won a penalty through captain Daniel Fitchett who wiggled his way past the Millers' fullback and bought down in the process.
Up stepped the experienced Brandon Goodship who converted it into the bottom left-hand corner breaking the deadlock and making it 1-0.
However, celebrations were short-lived because with half an hour on the clock North Leigh equalised through central midfielder Huphrey-Ewers as he danced his way into the box, playing a neat one-two with his winger and slotting home.
Things went from bad to worse for Salisbury as only A minute later the millers took the lead as Jordan Thomas turned sharply in the box, tapped it past the keeper and finished with composure.
However, similarly to when Salisbury took the lead, those celebrations were again short-lived.
It only took Salisbury three minutes to reply when Player of the month James Plant volleyed home a rebound from a corner on the edge of the box equalising the score and ending a frantic five minutes of football.
Two all as the half-time whistle blew.
The second half began and a double rainbow appeared behind the goal the hosts were shooting toward.
The Whites then found their pot of gold when Arnold drilled his cross across the six-yard box which was parried out by the keeper, but only into the path of Fitchett who smashed it in to make it 3-2.
As Salisbury looked to defend their lead, a hard challenge from Bowe Bosma where he seemingly got the ball, caused outrage in the North Leigh camp.
The referee awarded the foul and through a crowd of players produced a red card to the central midfielder.
85 minutes played and a second yellow was shown to center-back Nassim Kherbouche when he handballed it just outside the area taking the hosts down to 9.. more work for Salisbury.
But they certainly didn’t let that phase them.
Wing-back Calvin Brooks made an excellent run down the right-hand side, beating two of the Millers’ men in the process and put the ball across the goal for the energetic Arnold to tap home and seal the victory.
As the final whistle blew cheers and celebrations began.
A composed and commanding second half from Salisbury saw them earn the win.
A good three points for Salisbury, a tough pill to swallow for North Leigh.
